Terms of Service

When you complete our artist and crew form:

• You confirm that the information you give is accurate and that you are aged 18 or over.

• Submitting your details does not guarantee work, an interview or a reply. We will contact you only if we have a project that suits your skills and availability.

• We use your details as set out in our Privacy Policy.

• If we are working on a project and need to share your name and contact details with a production, client or insurer for the purposes of that job, we will ask for your agreement first.

We will always state clearly whether a role is paid or unpaid, and give the relevant details, before you commit. You are never obliged to accept any offer of work.

Unpaid or voluntary roles are offered only on non-commercial or personal projects, and we will cover reasonable expenses where we can. Commercial work is paid.

Unsolicited submissions. We welcome scripts, treatments and ideas sent to us outside our competitions, but we cannot promise to read, respond to or return them. Please keep your own copy, as we do not return submissions. By sending us material, you confirm it is your own original work and that you have the right to submit it. You keep ownership of your work, and we will use it only to consider it for possible development. We may already be developing, or may later develop, projects with similar ideas, themes or characters, and sending us material does not give you any claim over them. We will not produce, adapt, option or publish your work without a separate written agreement with you. Please do not send anything you are not comfortable sharing on these terms.

When you submit any work, you confirm that it is your own original work, that you have the right to submit it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

If you contact us about work, we will use your details to respond, as set out in our Privacy Policy. An enquiry, discussion or quote does not create a contract. Work begins only once both parties have agreed and signed a written agreement. Any material you give us, such as briefs, scripts, footage or music, remains yours, and you confirm you have the right to give it to us. We will treat what you tell us about your project as confidential and use it only to respond to your enquiry, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

All content on this website, including text, logos, images, films, footage, showreels and music, is protected by copyright. It belongs to First Step Films, its clients or its contributors, depending on the project. You may view it and share links to it, but you may not:

• Download, copy, re-edit, re-upload or redistribute any film, clip or showreel

• Use any content commercially, or in any way that suggests our endorsement

• Remove or alter any credits, copyright notices or watermarks

without our written permission. To request permission, email us at the address above.

You keep ownership of anything you send us, such as your CV, portfolio, showreel links or images. By sending it, you allow us to use it only to consider you for work, as set out in our Privacy Policy. We will not publish your work or use it in our marketing without your separate permission.

We aim to credit everyone who contributes to our projects fairly and accurately. If you believe a credit is missing or incorrect, please contact us and we will review it.

Our site may link to or embed external sites and services, such as video hosting, social media or other organisations. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

We try to keep the website accurate and available, but we can’t promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. We are not responsible for losses caused by using the website, except where the law doesn’t allow us to limit responsibility. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be excluded.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. When First Step Films becomes a limited company, these terms will be updated to name the company.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
