Blues & Roots Ensemble is a jazz collective like no other.
A diverse group of internationally renowned musicians, brought together with one mission: share the creativity, history and joy of jazz — with everyone.
Led by double bassist and educator Ed Babar, BARE doesn't just perform.
They build immersive concerts, workshops and theatre experiences that turn audiences of all ages and abilities into collaborators.
The Brief
BARE brought us into their Jazz School Workshops project — working closely with the team to bring their footage to life in the edit and shape it into a film that captures the real thing — kids, classrooms, and chaos turning into music.
The challenge: Show how jazz doesn't need expensive instruments or years of training.
Find the moments where kids build genuine musical ideas from whatever's in the classroom music cupboard. Edit and grade it into something with the same energy, spontaneity and joy that BARE brings into the room.
We needed to find the story inside the footage — the real reactions, the real breakthroughs, the real jazz.
is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since 1966, when designers at Letraset and James Mosley, the librarian at St Bride Printing Library in London, took a 1914 Cicero translation and scrambled it to make dummy text for Letraset's Body Type sheets. It has survived not only many decades, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised thanks to these sheets and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Word including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
